Oklahoma NSC Geroscience Biorepository (currently under development!)

The NSC Geroscience Biorepository will offer unique bioresources, including biosamples from human and animal models of aging, to all US investigators. To address the need for effective translational models of aging, the Oklahoma NSC generated and will offer, together with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) NSC, a new and unique genetically heterogeneous rat model with divergent mitochondrial genomes (OKC-HET^B/W rats, PMID 36762848) at various ages, and their tissues, including plasma. We will also provide investigators with (a) plasma and muscle samples obtained from a study in humans treated with metformin, as well as plasma from an exercise trial in older humans; and (b) a broad range of tissues from >10 different mouse models and transgenic lines relevant to aging and age-associated diseases at various ages. Collections of biosamples will continue to grow as additional studies are performed at our NSC.
